Sreesanth, Karan Johar and Telangana

Poor poor Sreesanth…always getting a dress down from his team-mates, from the crowds and the umpires. Are we being unfair here? Why do we love to hate him sometimes? After all, he only sledges and ocassionally crosses the line but who doesn’t? The Aussies do it, Proteas do it, some English players and Pakistanis too. So why is it that we do not support our own? Aren’t we tired of being the nice boys of cricket? We’ve always been the quiet ones. We take everything with a smile on our faces. Nothing wrong with showing some agression on the pitch. Sure, Sreesanth does annoy me sometimes. He comes across as being arrogant and childish. He is ready to give but not ready to take. For eg; when he said something to Bhajji and Bhajji retaliated with a tight slap, he cried and how!!! I mean, if you are ready to abuse people you should be ready to take it aswell. The most interesting part of this whole incident was Dhoni giving Sreesanth a piece of his mind in the dressing room later. Apparently, he did not appreciate Sreesanth abusing Smith’s mother and told him to control his errr tongue 😀 Poor li’l chap! I guess, silent aggression is the most productive…like Zaheer’s gaze, or a cheeky smile or a gesture but mouthing a few abusive words…I am not sure.

Karan, Karan Karan…where do I start??? I was watching SRK’s interview on Koffee with Karan this morning. Karan was curious to know how SRK manages to be happily married inspite of being in a film industry filled with gorgeous women. Apparently, Mr Johar does not believe in the institution of marriage since married people around him just do not seem to be happy. They are either divorced or are persistently faced with marital problems. Why doesn’t he just come out of the closet and accept the fact that he is Gay?? I know Indian society doesn’t provide enough support system for its gay population to come out and get married but that doesn’t mean you sit on your comfortable couch and pass judgements against the institution of marriage. I am not saying marriage is easy but if you really love someone, you over-come any number of obstacles. I know it sounds cheesy but it’s true. Mr Johar works in an industry where there is lot of money, lot of choice and less of trust. Most actors have to stay away from home due to their shooting schedules. There is a lot of scope for marital problems to arise but what matters is how you sort them out. These days, when women are more independent and make their own decisions and are not scared to walk out of an unhappy relationship, it does take a lot of effort from both the sides to have a healthy marriage but just because marriages around you (aka the posh localities of Mumbai) are crumbling, doesn’t mean the majority of the Indian public is suffering the same fate?

There were just two things I was sure of in my life and one of them was getting married to S. We have our good days and bad, ours lows and highs, but what I cherish most is the companionship we share. He is my strength when I am down and out, my sunshine on a gloomy day. I am most happiest when I am in his arms. No amount of money or jewellery can give me the same happiness. I could not have imagined my life any other way. Life is just more beautiful with him by my side.

Karan Johar reminds me of some of my friends, who in spite of having girlfriends for years and years together are simply scared to commit and instead of addressing their fears, they say marriage is a waste of time. I laugh at such poor souls.

So the Telangana verdict is out and surprise surprise…TRS is not happy because they wanted the report to agree with the ‘Telangana Vaadulu’. So what is their plan of action? More burning of public properties, more student killings (I will not call them suicides), and more masala for the NEWS channels. When will we learn to live together in peace? The Sri Krishna Committee report is out and there’s no going back. So just shut up and get on with your lives and let us get on with ours!

Peace!

Random Thoughts…

  1. Over the week, my thoughts lingered around the killing of 75 Jawans in Dantewada. I just could not understand how something like this could have happened? Heights of intelligence failure. It was right of the Home minister to tender his resignation…it is shameful and such incidents should not happen ever again. Can you imagine, our county has lost 75 of its bravest citizens. What a Loss! But what surprises me the most is that the public seems to have coolly moved on. I cannot help but draw parallels between the Mumbai attack and Dantewada massacre. When Mumbai happened, public was on the roads…angry…and they wanted answers. We turned out in our thousands…there were candle light vigils up and down the country..people were in mourning.  Why is it that we did not see such a reaction in response to this incident? Does the Jawans lives mean nothing to us. Is it because they do not speak English…or because they are not from big cities? We should be ashamed as a nation for letting this happen. I am not saying that naxals should be wiped out etc etc…I am not qualified to make any suggestions of such sort…but I feel this should not have ever happened. Cannot help but wonder what would have happened if 75 cops/security people were killed in UK (where I live)….would it have happened in the first place and even if it did…how would the government have reacted?
  2. I don’t feel like writing about the IPL any more. Somehow, seems very irrelevant. DC plays Bangalore today…and I hope they win. I was totally excited yesterday but after writing about Dantewada, IPL? Nahh! Don’t feel like it.
  3. I have decided to get an iPhone and not Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 as I posted in my earlier post. I went to a mobile store over the weekend and tried out a variety touch phones…and iPhone at the end of my inspection…and realised it’s so much more better than the rest. There are some cool apps….don’t know if I will use any but it’s nice to have them and some other interesting stuff!
  4. The weather kind of improved over the weekend but it’s dull and gloomy now…nothing new there but worth a mention 😀

Anyways, I want to end this post on a cheerful note, so here goes a very funny scene from Whose Line Is It Anyway..

Njoy!

And the Most Farcical Awards are…

Couple of days ago, I was browsing through the NDTV website when I came across something called the ‘GR8 Women’s Achievers  Awards’. These were new to me but apparently Kelvinator has given them for the last 2 years. I was browsing through the photos of the event to see who got the awards….some inspirational stories maybe?…stories of women who achieved something against all odds…who contributed positively to our society…?NO! But who do I end up seeing…Aishwarya Rai, Sushmita Sen, Bhagyashree (yup..the one from Maine Pyar Kiya), Diya Mirza (she’s every where these days), Yuktha Mookhey, Aarti Chabria, Zarine Khan etc in their beautiful sarees showing off their blouses and some in their skimpy clothes showing off their well-toned abs and yea..how can I forget….Shabana Azmi..she’s all things feminist isn’t she?

I was so disappointed…there was no one who I could admire, who actually contributed something to our society. Did Kelvinator conviniently ignore people like Dr. Sunitha Krishnan, the founder of Prajwala and many other women who are aplenty in our country? Do GR8 Women Achievers all have to be bollywood starlets? Dr Sunitha Krishnan, the founder of an NGO called Prajwala, who was gang raped at a young age fought back her horrors to become a psychiatrist and help children who are severely abused and sometimes sold and trafficked. Isn’t she inspirational to other women? Isn’t she deserving of this award?

What exactly have the bollywood startlets achieved may I ask? Most of them were models before they became actors or progeny of stars. They get paid crap load of money for their work…live in posh homes, drive extremely comfortable cars and dress in designer labels. For me, a GR8 Achiever is someone like Dr. Sunitha Krishnan…who is ACTUALLY doing something good for our society against all odds.

She is the only one I can think of now but this doesn’t mean there is no other woman in our country who is helping another. I am sure you will find one in every street corner. Such awards should carry some value…give it to people who really deserve them, to encourage them, to motivate them, to recognise their efforts and to show to the world what they do so that their organisations/NGO’s get the much-needed support. It doesn’t matter if you don’t give these awards to actors, they will still be fine…they won’t be missing out on anything. Who will it be next yr? Katrina, Kareena, Deepika etc?

Shame On You Kelvinator and the GR8 Women’s Achievers Awards panel!

The First Month – Yawwnn!!

2010 has been a big yawn for me! Cannot believe Jan is already over. Feels like we celebrated New Year’s just a week ago. Mann! Time flies! The Telangana agitation is still going on. Don’t think it’s going to stop any time soon. Sad state of affairs, though it doesn’t bother me as much as it used to. Is this not what we expect our politicians?? They are the most selfish lot on the face of this earth, aren’t they?  One thing I definitely do not support is the suicides. Totally disturbing. What about their families???  Ahh well, jo hoga, dekha jaega!

So, Andy Murray is through to the finals of The Australian open…Brits must be really chuffed!! Phir mile sur mera tumhara – the remixed version is out. I don’t know if you guys and gurls noticed…but as far as I am aware, there is not a single cricketer in the video which I think is great!!! I’ve had enough of seeing cricketers everwhere…they are there when you want to buy a bottle of jam, there when you want to buy an A/C, BHAM  – there when you go out to buy your chaddis. How pathetic! Don’t they make enough money already??? This is my synopsis of the first month of the year.

and they are not even that good 😛

Currently watching Ace Ventura – Part 1. Jim Carrey is awesomee!!!!

Don’t know the point of this post but though I’ll write something anyway. I know that my thoughts are all jumbled up but that’s what happens when you write whilst watching a movie 😀

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Ciao!

The Fuss about Telangana

OK…first I was angry…very angry…. but today…I am indifferent. I guess after a while you just get used to all the politicians bickering, acting like they really care about what people want etc etc. I just want everybody to live together…we are telugus right? We are all Andhrites. If we keep dividing out country like this..where will this end? I understand that India will still remain India but then this incident shows the current social psyche of the people of India. For every problem..we think division is the only solution. We differentiate people in the name of religion, caste, region, social status etc etc and forget the fact that we are all INDIANS first. We just need reasons to fight with each other.

Will division of the state solve all the problems that the people of telangana face today? Magar problems kahaan nehi hai…everyone has problems…you go to any district, any town, any city…people face probelms everyday. Is it only the people of Telanaga who face problems everyday?

One thing is clear, the fight is for Hyderabad and Hyderabad only. Nobody cares what happens to the rest of us. Most of us do not want the state to divide because our property prices might go up or go down (depending on which region they were bought). Nobody is bothered about the farmers, the daily wage workers of the region….everybody is fighting for their own selfish reasons. It pains me!

Anyways, it been quite a while since KCR withdrew his fast and ‘Soni amma’ announced the start of the process for the formation of Telangana state….and then there were more fasts, more dharnas, much more damage to property and now congress is in a fix…doesn’t know what to do…which is pathetic! First you make a hasty statement….in the middle of the night…and the very next day scores of MLA’s resign…from the Congress, TDP and PRP. It is just a big pile of shit right now. Our state is one of the largest in the country…please do not divide it 😦 Kalisi Unte Kaladu Sukhamu 🙂 Plzz!

Anyhoo, on a different note, I am eagerly awaiting the release of Avatar. I’ve read some pretty good reviews…apparently the graphics are awesome!! Can’t wait!!!

Review coming up soon!

Later Peeps 🙂

I am writing again!! Yayyy!!!

Ahh….so finally I got myself to sit infront of my laptop and write. Moving was a real bummer!!! I hate relocating…I hate it hate it hate it!!! I am definitely not waiting for the next one. It took us more than three weeks to set things up…and since it was just S and I with occasional help from friends…it was tough.

When I really wanted to write…all I could think of was the bomb blasts in Bangalore and Ahemdabad. I was disturbed. I want to punch our politicians black and blue. The statement that got onto my nerves was our PM announcing compensation for the vicitms…like it matters!!! Our govt thinks money is the answer for everything wrong and ugly that happens in our country…No it’s not! I don’t understand what the freakin Nuclear Deal is worth when there are hundreds of Indians dying in terrorist attacks almost every other month.

The weather has been terrible. In the UK, the really hot days last for a maximum of 30 days in 365 and unluckily for us…it had to begin just after we moved…so we not only had to cope with all the unpacking and arranging…but also bear the brunt of the hot sun and no wind coming our way 👿

As it is…I have really bad mood swings and all this together just made me even more angry and somewhat crazy. The only time I enjoyed in the last few days was walking in the evening with S to a nearby restrau and enjoying a few cool summer drinks.

It’s high time and I want to get my groove back 😉 Vent out all the frustration in my blog 😈  So get ready guys and girls…hehee
